LASIK operation is a vision correction procedure where the surgeon creates a hinged flap of thin corneal tissue, usually of 90, 130 or 160 micrometers. The flap is then folded back for the laser procedure. For this method a most advanced instrument called microkeratome MORIA M2 is used.
When the laser procedure is completed, the flap is repositioned and it will be “glued” naturally by osmotic pressure within approximately 2 minutes. The flap protects the eye after laser treatment and therefore recovery from the operation is almost painless.
The operation takes ca 5 minutes per one eye. Recovery from the operation is fast. Vision will be probably blurry for about 3 hours, but it will clear up within 1-2 days.
The flap will become fastened permanently within a week, therefore the patient should avoid rubbing the eye.
